I’ve always been proud to be an Aggie! I have been employed by the Velva Public School for 20+ years. Over the years, I have served as a substitute teacher, para-professional, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade teacher. I graduated from UND with my master’s degree in counseling in May of 2019 and am now serving as the school counselor for students in grades 7-12.
I live near Velva with my family. My husband, Wade, is a farmer. We have two children who both attended VHS. In the summer, we are often at our family’s lake cabin enjoying fishing for walleyes and spending time on the water. In the winter, you will often find us cheering on the Aggies at various extra-curricular events. Go Aggies!!
The mission of Velva school-counseling is to provide all students with a program that is comprehensive in scope, preventative in design and developmental in nature. The focus from kindergarten through 12th grade, is to provide all students with skills in three domain areas: academic, career, & social emotional. These skills will ensure that all students have the resources to succeed in school and beyond.
To help ensure this success the school-counseling program has four components.
- Guidance Curriculum- ALL students K-12 have classroom time dedicated to creating a knowledge base for the three domain areas mentioned above.
- Individual Planning- Available to ALL students or students and their families to manage their educational, personal, or career development.
- Responsive Services- Working with students or their families to address immediate concerns.
- System Support-Activities or services implemented by the counselor to support the total educational system.
