Congrats Laurae & Caroline! FFA Success!

Velva FFA Demonstration Duo

On Wednesday, November 20th two members of the Velva FFA Chapter made their way down to Bismarck, ND. Caroline Bodine and Laurae Beaudrie competed in the Demonstration event at the inaugural State Leadership Development Event (LDE) Day that was held at the State Capitol building and the Heritage Center & State Museum.

Caroline and Laurae qualified to compete at State LDE day when they competed at the District 2 FFA competition back on September 30th. The girls competed in the Demonstration event at Districts and earned second place. Placing second earned them a trip to compete down in Bismarck for the first ever State LDE Day. There are eight FFA Districts in North Dakota, and the top two speeches in each district moved on to the State events. Caroline and Lauraeā€™s demonstration speech was on how to make homemade pizza. They went over the process of making the pizza, how to prepare the pizza dough, the ingredients needed and how they are related to agriculture, and food safety practices to follow while making pizza at home. Their speech earned a Gold award and they placed in the top five!

Great job Caroline and Laurae! Velva FFA is proud of all the hard work and effort you two put into your presentation! Thank you to all who helped the girls succeed in this event!
