Mrs. Schepp – Physical Education

Dear Parents and/or Guardian:

My name is Wanda Schepp.  I am the Elementary Physical Education Teacher.  Just a little bit about me.  I am a wife and a mom of four children that also attend school at Velva Public School.  This is my fifth year at Velva Public School.  Before teaching here, I taught at Driscoll, Sawyer, Towner and Glenburn.  I enjoy playing games and watching my kids play.  I also enjoy spending time with my family at the lake.

A little bit about my teaching philosophy:

Students will learn about movement, strategies, teamwork, and health related fitness, all while achieving attainable goals and becoming physically educated.  Velva students will learn various lifetime skills and activities so that they can stay fit and active for life.  We as a class will be confident in our abilities and will work together to achieve our goals.

Rules for PE class:

  1. Freeze (on signal)! Stop, look, and listen!
  2. Sharing is caring!
  3. Respect all school property and all classmates.
  4. HAVE FUN!!

Rules for the Gym:

We expect all students to wear clean shoes to the gym and if at all possible, ones that have good soles.  I do have some shoes available to borrow; however, I would prefer students learn responsibility and bring their own.

Students may not have gum, cough drops, or candy in their mouth in the gym.

Students should wear clothes that they can move freely in on days they have gym.

Should your student become injured outside of PE, a doctor’s note will be required.  We want to be able to help your child as best as possible; we can only do that with all possible information.

A little bit about grading in PE:

It is my goal to keep everyone moving as much as possible.  It is recommended that students get 60 minutes of physical activity in a day.  PE can only account for 60 minutes a week.  This is why it is important that everyone is participating to their full potential all of the time.  Your child will be graded on Participation and Behavior.

I look forward to working with your child and thank you for the opportunity.

If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 338-2022.
